West Ham’s new owner reveals January transfer plans

Hammers flying high

West Ham are in high spirits despite defeat in their most recent outing.

The Hammers fell to a 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday, but remain in 4th place, six points off top spot and three points clear of 5th placed Arsenal.

With tricky fixtures against Manchester City, Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal coming in their next 5 Premier League fixtures, this is already a crucial point of the east London club’s season, with a poor run of results having the potential to bring them firmly back down to earth, and down the table.

January, however, seems unlikely to spring too many surprises.

Kretinsky outlines January intentions

Daniel Kretinsky took ownership of 27% of West Ham last month, and fuelled expectation of further investment in the club in the near future.

However, if his latest comments in the London Evening Standard are to be believed, that is unlikely to happen.

Kretinsky wrote:

We have come to support the club but — so as to manage supporters’ expectations — that doesn’t mean big spending in the January transfer window. I’m hugely impressed by the work of David Moyes and his team who have improved results over a long period of time.

This gradual evolution is, in my opinion, the most healthy way to build a strong club on a firm basis and with the right attitudes and culture.

Despite this, there are evident holes in the West Ham squad that will surely be looked at come the next transfer window, and 101 took a look at three potential targets that won’t break the bank, but could prove the make or break for their season.

Where would you like to see the Hammers strengthen?
